Anabel Dean is a multi award-winning travel writer : 2022 + 2020 Kennedy Awards for Excellence in Journalism finalist; winner Australian Society of Travel Writers Awards Best International Story 2021, Best Family Travel Story 2020, Australian Travel Writer of the Year finalist 2022; runner up Best Sustainable Tourism Story 2020; Best Family Travel Story finalist 2023.

Her career as journalist began as a Fleet Street reporter in London (The Sun newspaper) before becoming a features writer for The Sydney Morning Herald and The Bulletin magazine. She was appointed Lifestyle and Travel Editor at Medical Observer in 2013. Today she contributes to print and online publications around the world: Traveller (The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and The Sun Herald), CNN Travel, ABC.net.au, Gourmet Traveller, Australian Country, Wellbeing, The New Daily, NZ Life and Leisure, Mindfood, The West Australian, Outback, Vogue, Green, Sphere (UK), Houses and others.

She is a contributing writer for the Art Gallery of NSW Foundation (Look magazine), Art Edit, Art Collector and My Savvy Traveller. Occasionally, she steps out as an arts guide for The Art Gallery of NSW, The National Art School and Culture Scouts (Sydney).
